A bunker within a bunker beneath the streets of Richmond, VA on the south side. The architects work diligently to satisfy the demands of a multinational corporation who’s influence has shaped the city for over 100 years. Down the street and across the bridge a family of four is celebrating an anniversary at the Jefferson Hotel.

The Quiet Zone

Television Series, 2023

Outside Baltimore, MD a small mountain town known for its seclusion within the quiet zone of a large radio telescope has adapted to tourism from the city through DIY means. A horse is found mysteriously slaughtered after a tunnel collapse locks down the only connection between the valley and the rest of the world. Tensions erupt between tourists and the locals as they search for a sociopath on the loose.

Snowball

In a near dystopian future, Snowball Studios struggles to stay afloat by producing programs that recall the past. Despite their attempts, they cannot keep the violence of the disintegrating world at bay.

A robot wanders the four seasons of Baltimore searching for death. A doomsday prepping colonial reenactor demonstrates how to bake sourdough bread the old fashioned way. A talent show concludes with a series of violent deaths.

Planes line up at LAX. Hotel prices are out of control. They finally finished the purple line despite Beverly Hills objections. The coliseum is loaded with jet fuel to deliver the most extraordinary fireshow for the occasion.

Into the Blue

Sea levels rise and everyone with unbalanced checkbooks find themselves stranded in their hometowns. With all the manufacturing jobs gone Starbucks cups must be hand crafted by volunteers with only the will to keep the dream alive. Similarly hand painted Wells Fargo signs have been found posted above the doorways of those lucky enough to find enough Monopoly sets. Somewhere a Birkin bag washes onshore but nobody cares.

Remembering Las Vegas

Early on, Las Vegas’s population was bolstered by the influx of tourists coming to view the atomic tests of the Manhattan Project. Now patrons flock from all over the world to view fiery hotel-casino demolitions for entertainment. Desert war games, strip club gun ranges, and indoor zombie apocalypse paintball continue to thrive in the same city that experienced the deadliest mass shooting in the world. Las Vegas has one of the highest suicide rates in the United States and is also home to the “Skyjump” thrill ride, where visitors pay $150 to jump off a tower and experience the highest controlled freefall in the world. Remembering Las Vegas is a microcosm of a city’s contradictions, contradictions it designed and ones that metastasized.
